How to make a Skill Guide Empty
PostSubject: How to make a Skill Guide   How to make a Skill Guide EmptyFri Jul 15, 2011 2:01 pm

Several people come here and make guides that most people end up flaming them saying spammer nub because their guide is so bad. These tips can prevent that from happening to you.

1. Big Opening

You should often have a sentence before your guide that explains your guide and tells what you are about to read. You can make this flashy and catch the reader's attention instantly and get better ratings.

2. Plagiarism

Don't steal other peoples work. Others work hard on making guides and it's not cool to just steal them, copy paste them and say it's 100% original. It's alright to copy a few sections from some websites, as long as you give credit. Getting guides stolen isn't fun. If you plagiarize, we will know.

3. Pictures

Nobody likes a guide unless it looks good and pictures do make it look good. When describing locations, or what enemies look like, screenshots are always the best idea to catch the readers attention. Not only is it appealing and make the guide better, but it makes it look better.

Another thing about pictures, is don't take a full screenshot and post your entire screen or else it will barely be readable and looks really bad.

Some examples of good looking and descriptive screenshots include these. These are from "Sal's Realm of Runescape". A forum and guide for runescape that is very well put together:

4. Descriptive

Give in-depth information on your guide. Be VERY detailed explaining nearly everything. Give tons of examples, Xp/Hour or $/Hour. All that kinds of stuff. Give locations, details on the location, how to get to the location, what's in the location, TONS OF STUFF. The more, the better.

5. One guide

If you are making a guide about one thing in specific, don't drift off-topic and lose your main focus point. For Example:
So when fletching, remember to put feathers on your shafts before the arrow-tip. Feathers can be obtained from chickens. Chickens are found in the Champion's Guild are are very good xp for melee. I once grew several levels with it. Moss giants are also good for melee. They raise your combat level up fast. You can range on them too.

Also, don't make 2 different guides in one thread. Make a single guide in a thread unless the other guide is 99.9% relevant like p2p and f2p.

6. Originality

When making your own guide, be original. It should be totally unique from all other guides you've seen. It's boring if it's the average all text guide with the same format and stuff. Being original improves guides by a ton. Everyone has their own imagination and their own thoughts and they're all unique. Use them.

7. Accurate Info

Make sure your information is accurate! If you say train on lessers, they give you like 700k/hour, people will go train on lessers and be like WTF! All your info most be true or your guide would be better off removed. We even advise you to google search a guide on the guide your making so that you will have accurate info. Most published guides on the internet (Not on a forum) are accurate. Be honest. Be truthful.

8. Give Credit!

Did you use other sources? Then give them some credit! You will have tons of info and most of the time it's not all from past experiences. Chances are you used something like Tip.It or RuneHQ. After doing this in the bottom right hand or left hand corner, include credits like so:

9. Big Finish

Have a big finish because this is usually what the reader will remember most when rating your guide. It should be catchy and flashy so when they finish reading it they go "Wowz3rz dat waz go0d gide".

That is all. Follow these tips and your guides will be most excellent
